A 4.2 liter V8 is the only engine offered with the flagship model in the U.S. market. It produces 350 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 325 pound-feet of torque at 3,500 rpm, taking the flagship sedan to an electronically top speed of 130mph and . The performance oriented S8 and long-wheelbase A8 L both have more powerful engines. The A8 comes standard with a six-speed Tiptronic automatic and the fourth generation of Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system.

It's also much larger and more powerful, too. It targets the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The car's wheelbase has grown to 110.6 inches, while interior space has increased by nearly an inch. Rear passenger knee room has grown 1.5 inches to a respectable 35.75 inches. Compare to the C-Class and 3-Series, the new A4's wheelbase is two inches greater. The new 3.2 FSI is the most powerful engine available in the new A4. It develops 265 hp and also delivers 243 lb-ft of torque all the way from 3000 to 5000 rpm. The car accelerates with a manual gearbox from a standstill to 62 mph in only 6.2 seconds. As an alternative from 2008 onwards, this engine can be combined with the 6-speed tiptronic automatic transmission.

At 2.81 meters (9.22 feet), the wheelbase is the longest in its segment -- creating a roomy interior on board the Audi Q5. Measuring 4.63 meters (15.19 feet) long and 1.88 meters (6.17 feet) wide, the Audi Q5 is just 1.65 meters (5.41 feet) high, giving it a sporty appearance. 19-inch wheels further bolster this look. The Q5 shares a platform with the A4 and A5. The platform's layout will make it possible for Audi to offer a full range of engines, meaning that the brand's various FSI-equipped four and six-cylinder engines, plus some high efficiency diesel models will be offered. It's even possible that the 4.2 litre V8 will find its way under the hood for an S-line version.

The A5 is the German automaker's first full-size coupe since the Audi 100, slotted somewhere between the A4 and A6 sedans. Peak torque is 243 pound-feet 3250 and 5000 rpm. An A5-based convertible will eventually replace the A4, S4 and RS4 Cabriolets. Transmission choices for the new two-door include six-speed manual, CVT, and DSG gearboxes. All-wheel-drive is offered across the board. Audi promises razor-sharp handling thanks to an engine placement behind the front wheels, resulting in better weight distribution than any existing Audi, aside from the mid-engine R8.

Designed to appeal to a young and dynamic clientele, the TTS represents the Audi brand's Vorsprung durch Technik ('advancement through technology') in its very latest form. The TFSI engine in the TTS takes the two Audi technologies of gasoline direct injection and turbocharging and blends them to form a perfect partnership. Aside from its output of 200 kW or 272 hp (265 hp in the U.S.), it is its peak torque of 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft), which is constantly on tap between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm, that makes the compact and lightweight four-cylinder unit so impressive.

Audi's direct-injection 4.2-liter V8 engine, basically a detuned version of the one found in the RS4 and R8, which produces 354hp and 325lb-ft of torque instead of the 420 hp /317 lb-ft. Like the A5, the new S5 features an engine placement behind the front wheels, resulting in better weight distribution between the axles. The A/S5 is underpinned by Audi's newest platform, B8, making its debut here. Detuned or not, the motor is good enough to propel the S5 to 60mph in under five seconds, and carry it onto an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Like all Audi "S" models, the S5 has sportier suspension, unique front and rear fascias, performance wheels and brakes, carbon fiber interior elements, and the choice of a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.

Audi unveiled the R8 -- its first ever mid-engine sports cars -- for the 2008 model year and beyond. Sales began in the first half of 2007 for the United States and Europe. The car has a 420 horsepower high-revving V8 engine and all-wheel-drive. It uses the mid-engine Lamborghini Gallardo platform and costs $114,200, positioning it squarely against the BMW M6, Porsche 911, and Aston Martin Vantage. The car features a choice of LED or Xenon headlamps surrounded by LED running lights and indicators. LEDs are also used in the engine bay to make the impressive V8 visible even at night. Both a standard manual and an automated manual transmission are offered. Claimed zero to 62 mph time is 4.6 seconds, though this number is likely conservative.
