Although other countries are given the option of several engine options (including diesel), the US version of the sedan is offered with just one model, a 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine that generates 170 horsepower at 5700 rpm. Peak torque reaches 177 pound-feet at 4250 rpm. Transmission choices are also more modest than the performance-minded GLI version. The standard Jetta sedan is paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed Tiptronic automatic with a manual shift override.
